High School

North Pocono High School's curriculum for most students is composed of three parts: core courses, other required courses, and elective courses.

Core Required Courses

  • Four years of English
  • Four years of social studies
  • At least three years of mathematics
  • At least three years of science

Other Required Courses

  • Four years of physical education
  • One year of health

Elective Courses

All students must take a minimum of five classes that meet every day of the cycle (known as major courses). To meet or exceed the credit requirements, students may take a variety of additional courses in subjects such as fine art, business, English, family and consumer science, math, science, social studies, technology, and vocational skills, and world languages.

Vocational (CTC) Courses

The Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County (CTCLS) offers 18 career areas of study. Programs are designed to be three years in length, beginning in sophomore year; however, it is possible for juniors and seniors to begin a program of study. Students who attend CTC for their vocational program, continue to take required courses at North Pocono.
